Got A Bad Case Of The Wobbles?

Solve wobbly table problemNo we’re not talking about you carrying a few extra pounds around your waistline but more about café tables that seem to have developed an annoying wobble, no matter where you place them. Let’s face it, wobbly tables are a real pain in the proverbial backside and take up goodness knows how many minutes of your staff’s time in trying to level them using a folded beer mat. Not only are they extremely irritating for customers but there’s also a chance that their hot drinks or piping hot food could end up in their laps, so they’re dangerous too.

So what’s the solution?

In a word FLAT! We now stock a wide range of FLAT Technology table bases which cleverly adjust automatically to any surface to ensure that your table remains stable with no sign of a wobble. Once it’s automatically found its level then it locks in place and stays until you move the table to another place where it goes through the levelling process once more. In addition these innovative bases are a tremendous asset when it comes to lining up a series of smaller tables in order to accommodate a large party or group of customers. Constantly sensing and adjusting to any uneven surface, you can be sure that your café tables are level and safe for customers at all times.

Common and costly complaint

Wobbly tables are one of the most common and costly complaints in the hospitality industry but thanks to Cafe Furniture Melbourne and FLAT Technology, you don’t have to worry any more. You can now offer a far better service to your customers, improve your cafe’s image, and increase your profits all in one swoop.

Invisible” technology

The great thing about FLAT table bases is that they’re available to buy in a variety of sizes and or styles, so there should be a base to meet every need. Whether you’re looking for a silver or black base, contemporary or traditional, FLAT has the answer. There’s no need to worry about having to install FLAT technology into your bases since it’s installed at the point of manufacture and is cleverly hidden within the framework of the base, so it’s totally invisible to the eye.

If you’re interested to learn more about FLAT technology then why not come and see our bases for yourself. We’ve got them in stock at our warehouse and can give you a demonstration on how they work. As with all of our products, they’re competitively priced and make a wide long term investment.

9 Reasons Why It’s Best to Buy Your Cafe Furniture From A Commercial Supplier Instead Of A Retail Outlet

steph-chairs-circular-topWhen it comes to buying café furniture then there’s really no better place to purchase it than a commercial supplier. Why? Because a commercial supplier will…….

  1. Cut out the middle man and give his customers access to a plethora of designers, manufacturers and craftsman. Instead of putting on a huge mark up to increase his own profits, he’ll pass on any savings to you.
  2. Use skilled furniture makers and quality controlled manufacturers rather than cheap, shoddy products in order to make more money.
  3. Save you anywhere between 50-80% on retail prices and not charge for expensive retail storage space.
  4. Have access to the very latest designs, colours, and materials so that your venue stands out from the crowd, rather than the same old, same old, that retail outlets stock.
  5. Offer attractive shipping rates and plenty of videos showing how to assemble products.
  6. Offer friendly, knowledgeable advice and design suggestions to ensure you’re getting the best value for money rather than limited experience from a part time sales person with little or no knowledge of the hospitality sector.
  7. Have commercial furniture finance in place to avoid putting undue pressure on your cash flow instead of demanding one payment with no other options.
  8. Be able to offer a variety of sizes within each range, rather than one size fits all.
  9. Offer a loyalty plan to past, existing and new customer to allow them to save even more money.

Here at Cafe Furniture we stock a wide range of cafe furniture at affordable prices. With a huge choice of materials, colours, styles and sizes, there’s sure to be just what you’re looking for. A Secret History Of The Tolix Chair – The Chair That Nearly Wasn’t

blog01By the mid 1950’s the classic Tolix chair became the favoured seating of choice for thousands of café’s all over the world. At it’s height (between 1956 and 1974) the factory based in France employed 80 workers and produced some 60,000 chairs a year. Despite a bit of a wane through the 1980’s and 1990’s when bolder designs were the order of the day, the humble Tolix chair is once again a popular addition in many café’s and bars. That said, it’s success nearly didn’t happen.

Born in 1880 in Le Morvan, France Xavier Pauchard was brought up in the green heart of France where forests and woodlands were abundant. Even though wood was the most obvious choice for construction materials, Pauchard trained as a zinc roofer, just like his father and grandfather before him.

By 1907 Pauchard had perfected a way of protecting sheet metal from rusting. By dipping it in molten zinc he become one of the forerunners of the galvanisation process and ten years later (in 1927) Pauchard had set up a factory selling galvanised steel products for households. It was here that he first set up the trademark name ‘Tolix’.

When the first Tolix chair was created in 1934 it wasn’t really a hit. Even though it was a regular sight in cafes around Paris the truth was that cafe owners hated it. Although it was made of sturdy construction, was weatherproof (hence the holes in the seat to let rainwater through), and was lightweight enough to be picked up and moved easily, Pauchard’s chairs had a fundamental design flaw. They didn’t stack! In fact in the first five years or so, he got almost as many chairs back as he sold and as a result nearly went out of business.

However, he persevered and after much tweaking and many years later, in 1956 Pauchard finally brought out the first fully stackable Tolix chair. With a slimmer frame it was said that the chair could be stacked 25 high up to a height of 2.3 metres. Suddenly the demand for them was huge and almost over night they became an ever present feature in hospitals, offices, and factories as well as café’s and restaurants all over the world.

Why Not Add A Touch Of Italian Style To Your Terrace?

Drop chair in SandPlastic chairs are about a million light years away from the pretty basic styles which many of us had to sit on in the back yard at home. Today designers are really pushing the boundaries and playing with innovative styles and glorious colours to produce plastic or polypropylene chairs which wouldn’t look out of place in the swankiest of restaurants.

Here at Cafe Furniture Melbourne we’re all about tracking down innovative designs to give our customers a wide range of exciting and affordable products to choose from. One of our newest arrivals is the Drop Chair which we import from Italy. Oozing with style and sophistication it’s suitable for indoor and outdoor use, making it a versatile and practical choice for your café or home.

Big personality

The Drop chair is a small chair that is bursting with personality. Based loosely on the Drop chair designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1958, it’s fresh and vibrant and is sure to enhance your indoor or outdoor dining space. Made from polypropylene in an understated sand colour, it’s moulded from just one piece of polypropylene to give a look that is sleek and stylish with no nasty seams or rough edges to snag customers skin or clothes when they sit on it.

The design of the back offers good support and freedom of movement while the shell embraces the lower body to give a surprising level of comfort. The circular hole doesn’t just look attractive but is functional too, allowing the chair to be easily lifted for moving from one place to another and for cleaning.

Strong and sturdy, this chair is also lightweight and stackable which is a real bonus if you’re short of storage space. UV treated and waterproof, also means that your drop chair can be used outside in all weathers without fear of it cracking, splitting, or rotting in the harsh Australian climate.

Where to use

Perfect for cafes with a contemporary aesthetic, just imagine how stunning these Drop chairs would look lined up on a terrace behind light ash wood and aluminium tables interspersed with planters full of colourful flowers and parasols to lend much needed shade. Creating a relaxed ambience, your terrace would be full of happy customers. Used indoors you could pair them with gleaming black café tables to give a look of total contrast. Easy to clean and maintain all they need is a wipe over with a damp cloth to remove any sticky finger prints or food debris.
